# How to add a notification pop-up with Claude

A white phone notification with a red shopping-bag icon drops in at the top saying "Your serum is back in stock", then slides away.

Made by the script on this page, from our own test clip.

## Get this effect

1. ### Switch to Code in your [Claude Desktop App](https://claude.com/download)

2. ### Install the skill (once)

   ```
   Install the Recharm video effects skill: download https://recharm-growth-staging.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/website/downloads/recharm-video-effects.zip and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills
   ```

3. ### Ask for the effect

   ```
   Add a notification pop-up to input.mp4
   App, when: SHOP, now
   Title: Your serum is back in stock
   Body: Only 50 left. Tap to grab yours
   ```

## Several videos, several effects, one ask

Put your clips in the folder, mention them with @, and ask for everything at once. Claude runs one tested script after another on each clip, then joins them.

Add a notification pop-up to **@clip1.mp4**, put a sale badge on **@clip2.mp4**, give **@clip3.mp4** a VHS look, then join all three with crossfades.

## Settings you can change

Ask Claude to change any of these, or edit them at the top of the script.

| Setting      | Default                           | What it does                               |
| ------------ | --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------ |
| `APP, WHEN`  | `SHOP, now`                       | App name and time stamp on the top line.   |
| `TITLE`      | `Your serum is back in stock`     | Bold line.                                 |
| `BODY`       | `Only 50 left. Tap to grab yours` | Grey line under it.                        |
| `START`      | `0.5`                             | Second the banner starts dropping in.      |
| `HOLD`       | `3.0`                             | Seconds it stays down before sliding away. |
| `ICON_COLOR` | `(255, 59, 48)`                   | App icon color.                            |

## Without the skill

Don’t want to install the skill? Paste this prompt into Claude Code and Claude writes the script itself.

```
Add a phone-style notification to input.mp4: a pure white (255, 255, 255) rounded banner 92% of the frame width, centered across, its top 4% of the way down, with a soft dark shadow. On its left, a red (255, 59, 48) rounded-square app icon 13% of the banner width with a white shopping bag on it; to its right, "SHOP" in small grey, "now" in small grey at the right edge, "Your serum is back in stock" in black bold, and "Only 50 left. Tap to grab yours" in grey under it. The banner drops in from above the top edge at 0.5 seconds over 0.4 seconds with a slight bounce, stays fully down for 3 seconds, then slides back up out of frame over 0.4 seconds (gone by 4.3 seconds). Use Python with Pillow to draw it and ffmpeg to put it on the video (don't rely on ffmpeg's drawtext filter), keep the audio, and save it as output.mp4.
```

## Run it without Claude

This is the exact script we tested. Save it as `notification-pop-up.py` and run:

```
python3 notification-pop-up.py input.mp4 output.mp4
```

```
#!/usr/bin/env python3
"""Notification pop-up: a phone-style banner drops in from the top edge, sits for a few seconds, then slides away.
Usage: python3 notification-pop-up.py input.mp4 output.mp4
Needs ffmpeg and Pillow (pip install pillow).
